Windows version please!!!
Just makes sense...
There are 71.47% windows pc devices out there.
And only 15.45 MacOS devices.
Seems like a HUGE opportunity to tap into a WAYYYY larger market!
Windows version FTW!

I have been searching for a long time for a reliable option that integrates real-time speech-to-text with standard input on Windows (or even in combination with Android), as well as the ability to transcribe pre-recorded voice memos afterwards. I'm looking for a tool that ensures privacy and data security. Dragon NaturallySpeaking is quite expensive, and you have to record within the app itself rather than directly where you need it, such as in Obsidian, Notion, etc. It would be fantastic to have such an application on Windows.
Is there any prediction on when this might become available?

Just to add to the conversation. I have been power using Superwhisper for medical school and working with clients. There is a huge opportunity for Superwhisper on Windows, and definitely a huge opportunity in the medical note dictation space. The closest whisper analogs don't even approach Superwhisper and charge more for less. Have tried most of them and they are garbage comparatively. I mean hats off to you Neil this is such an amazing product. Any updates on when this could be releasing? Would love to beta test.

I have been using accessibility since the 1990s, and frankly, it's evolved at a disastrously slow pace. While more advanced options like Otter AI have been a huge step up, are good at what they do, they still lack the simplicity of getting speech into text.
The big issue with transcription is that it's not as simple as it sounds. Despite common misperceptions, we do not write like we speak and so speech to text dictation is actually very difficult to learn. This is why AI is such game-changer!
As someone who is neurodiverse this could be a fantastic tool. I hope the Windows option is not far off. Do you have any idea of the timeline?

Ed Bradburn Forgot to ask, which expensive buggy option is that?
Ed Bradburn
Neil Chudleigh: Dragon Dictate from Nuance (recently acquired by Microsoft I think) The pro version now costs, I kid you not, 1,000 €. I used it for years but finally got tired of the pricing policy and the crashes, etc. that have plagued all versions of the software. Currently using a Google-based service called LilySpeech which is OK but they appear to have zero interest in marketing it as a product. Which is why I am super-interested in superwhisper!

Ed Bradburn Yes Ed, a Windows version would be excellent. When you mentioned a buggy option, I was expecting you to mention SpeechPulse. It is early in development, but low cost, and cross platform (Windows and Mac). Frequently updated. They are the only project I know of that is trying to replicate dictation (manual punctuation, formatting commands) "Dragon style" and merge this with AI. It's impressive what they have accomplished so far. With SuperWhisper, I'm still working on a prompt that will process my puntuation and formatting commands correctly post-recognition. Tricky because the models are not consistent. Sometimes they behave as expected, and sometimes they don't. Dragon still wins there. I'm surprised Nuance has not already upgraded Dragon to incorporate AI to improve recognition accuracy. It could become stellar -- but still $$$$.
Darryl
Ed BradburnThanks for the heads up on LilySpeech. Trying it out now. Interesting option. Never heard of it :-)
Ed Bradburn
Darryl That's also an interesting option - the more the merrier and thanks for mentioning it!
